Aria Amazon

Ship Overview

Launched in 2011, the 45 metre (147 foot) long Aria Amazon was designed by the innovative Peruvian architect Jordi Puig. Although still very young, the ship was completely refreshed in 2015 with new upgrades from bed linens to state-of-the-art lighting.  Aria Amazon features extremely generous dining and lounging areas, including an outdoor river facing jacuzzi. Floor to ceiling windows face the Amazon River in the ship’s 16 Design Suites, each measuring 23 square metres (250 square feet). Four suites can interconnect for families. This striking black hulled ship accommodates a maximum of 32 guests plus 26 crew including a paramedic and four English-speaking naturalist guides. Aqua Expeditions highly experienced river pilots and the most rigorous cruise ship standards ensure smooth travel and safety on the waters of the Peruvian Amazon.

Dining

Executive Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino’s Amazonia-inspired cuisine offers up plenty of reasons to take one’s eyes off the captivating landscapes showcased by the floor-to-ceiling windows which define the elegant dining room space.

Designed to balance the stunning scenery, the refined interior of the Aria Amazon dining room has been stylishly finished with contemporary Peruvian art, fine china and crystal glassware. These aesthetic elements are matched by attentive, personalised service from long-serving staff that quickly learn guest's names and tastes, from Peruvian coffee in the morning to the evening’s fine South American and European wines.

Choose to dine à deux, or family style among new friends. Whatever dishes you choose among Schiaffino’s fresh, ever-changing modern Amazon jungle influenced menus, perhaps the hearts of palm soufflé followed by an Amazon bass tiradito, do save room for dessert, be it a warm banana tart or classic chocolate fondant.

Features

Aria Amazon's floor to ceiling panoramic windows and Observation Deck are enhanced with an outdoor Jacuzzi, ideally poised for watching pink river dolphins while sipping pisco punch. Workout facilities are also available onboard. The Aria is spacious yet intimate enough to feel entirely exclusive and incorporates generous lounging and dining areas. Aqua Expedition’s highly experienced crew and the rigorous cruise ship standards ensure smooth travel and safety on the water on the Aria Amazon.

The Aria has a sophisticated boutique hotel aesthetic in the interior of all 16 Design Suites across the first and second deck. Woven tapestry of indigenous Peruvian fibres frames the sleeping quarters within these 23 metre private enclaves. Soft lighting, natural wood flooring and neutral hues create a calming and indulgently comfortable backdrop from which to focus on the captivating landscape through each suite’s floor to ceiling windows.

Four professionally-trained naturalist guides lead guests off the Aria Amazon on daily expeditions aboard comfortable skiffs deep into the Amazon’s tributaries and on foot into the sultry Amazon rainforest. True ribereños, or “river dwellers”, the English speaking Peruvian experts grew up on the banks of the Amazon, and know every bird and mammal call as well as they do the sound of their mother’s voice. They possess a local native’s ability to spot a brown-throated three-toed sloth sleeping high up in the tree canopy, an anaconda slithering along the shoreline and even the elusive capybara hiding in the high grass after nightfall.

Four auxiliary aluminum launch boats equipped with four-stroke low emission engines are use for excursions away from the Aria Amazon. Each tender has a capacity of 8 passengers.
